Maria Woodford

Maria Woodford is a lifelong musician and songwriter who has seen the world from the most prestigious of stages and the smallest of seedy back room venues. Throughout her years of playing the streets with an open guitar case to her more recent experience as a semi-finalist in the International Blues Challenge (IBC), Woodford’s sultry vocals, throaty growl, and disarmingly honest approach to songwriting has earned her many honors and awards including: second round-finalist for best self produced blues album of the year (IBC 2012),  The B.E.A.M. grant for independent music (2001) and Best Independent Album of the Year (NJ Press- 2002).

Incredible voice, great stage presence, sweet moves, my kind of repertoire, excellent songwriting.  Maria Woodford is the total package!  And, her guitar playing is icing on the cake.  Catch her now.  She's a rising star. -- Gaye Adegbalola

Woodford has traveled from coast to coast and beyond with her music. Maria was published as a contributing author in the textbook, "Music in Elementary Education" by Trollinger and Flhor (Prentice Hall Publishing) in 2009. In 2011 Maria was nominated for the "Growing Up Artfully" award for her contributions to the children of inner city Allentown, PA. Maria Woodford released her 4th full length CD on AUGUST 26 after a sneak preview mini-opening at Augusta Heritage Blues Week in July 2012. Bad Dog Blues features the great Phil Wiggins and many of the blues worlds most up and coming musicians.
