With inspiration and influences from early classic country, blues and pop, and from his beginnings in Huntington West Virginia, Jeff Smith's songs have strong lyrical content, and a poetic qualities that hang with you long after hearing the songs. Jeff counts JJ Cale, Randy Newman, Ray Davies, John Jackson and many other blues folks as spiritual mentors.

As a solo performer in the clubs, house concerts and festivals he has opened for Loudon Wainwright, Roger McGuinn, Donovan, REO, and Styxx. Most recently Jeff opened for Chris Smither at the Harvester Performance Center where, "polite clapping turned to real appreciation and admiration. Smither opened by praising Jeff's music and the crowd spontaneously erupted in a lengthy applause for Smith."  Jeff was the 2012 Jiffy Lube Live Concert Season Opener for Jiffy Lube Live.

In 2001, Jeff Smith and His Band of Steves released A Little Romance, "a rootsy bluesy kind of, folk/pop American guitar music depicting real life situations in the 21st Century and before.

LA's Acetate Records released The Human Wilderness, which featured Jeff's songs and production. Pit Stop Magazine said the album featured "heartfelt songs about life in small town USA are true masterpieces of Americana.”

Since 2010, Jeff has been working with music publishers, and getting his music placed on national television broadcasts such as The Young and Restless, Army Wives, European television commercials and in an independent film.

Jeff has a highly rhythmic style of guitar playing that is part fingerpicking and part flat pick strumming and tells stories about the songs, his family and his life and how they are all connected. You'll feel like you've always been friends.
